Description


This antique Victorian sterling silver gravy pot has a plain circular cylindrical form.


The body of the gravy pot is plain and embellished with an impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms and the date ‘1853’ below a crest of a griffin's head erased holding in the beak a rose-branch leaved and the motto 'Mea Gloria Fides' – Faith is my glory.


This fine gravy pot has a domed hinged hallmarked cover surmounted by a sterling silver urn shaped finial.


This fine Victorian gravy pot retains the original plain, flat sided C scroll handle, featuring a scrolling thumbpiece.


This antique gravy pot has a plain spout with a molded lip.


Date: 1853

Condition


This antique gravy pot is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface and part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Victorian silverware.
