Description


This fine antique sterling silver snuff box has a rectangular form.


The cover of this fine, Victorian snuff box is embellished with a scene of Windsor Castle* in relief.


The underside of the box is ornamented with impressive engraved decoration incorporating a vacant rectangular cartouche to the centre.


The concave sides of the box are embellished with engine turned decoration in addition to the applied chased scroll decorated thumbpiece to the front of the cover.


Both the base and cover are embellished with applied scrolling leaf decorated borders.


The snuff box retains its original gilt interior.


* The residence of the British Royal family at Windsor, distinguishable by its Victorian architecture.


Date: 1837

Condition


This antique snuff box is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The engraved decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck, as to be expected, to the interior base and cover of the box are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine example of Victorian silverware.
