Description


This exceptional antique George V sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster / lamp shaped form onto a plain pedestal to a circular domed foot.


The lower portion of the body and foot are encircled with embossed fluted decoration in a swirl design.


The shoulders of the caster are ornamented with four fine and impressive applied layered stylised leaf designs connected with elevated scroll and leaf motifs.


The plain shaped neck of the caster is embellished with an alternating concave and convex fluted border to the rim.


The sugar caster retains the impressive original hallmarked push fit cover, embellished with embossed fluted decoration in a swirl design alternate with rows of pierced decoration.


The cover is surmounted by a fine and impressive scroll decorated shaped baluster style finial.

Condition


This antique sugar caster is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The embossed decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks are struck to the surface of the caster and to the cover are all very clear.
