Description


This fine antique Victorian sterling silver tea caddy has a plain oval form.


The upper and lower portions of the body are embellished with bright cut engraved and pin struck decorated borders.


The body of the caddy is further ornamented with a bright cut engraved ribbon and floral garland design accented by a suspended rhombus shaped vacant cartouche.


This tea caddy retains the original hallmarked domed push fit cover which is embellished with a bright cut and pin struck decorated border.


The cover is surmounted with the original carved stained ivory and silver pineapple style finial.


Date: 1875

Condition


This antique sterling silver tea caddy is an excellent gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and to the interior of the cover are all very clear.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
