Description


This impressive antique Edwardian sterling silver teapot has an oval navette, boat shaped form.


This teapot is ornamented with bright cut engraved urn and garland swag decoration, accented with oval floral motifs and incorporating a shield shaped vacant cartouche to the both sides.


The body of the teapot is further embellished with bands of undulating pin struck decoration.


This fine teapot is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover and surmounted with the original painted wood and silver cushion shaped finial.


The hinge is decorated with pendant drop style ornamentation.


This impressive Edwardian teapot retains the original carved painted wood C scroll handle featuring a plain thumbpiece.


The teapot is fitted to the impressive original hinged leatherette presentation box with satin and velvet lined interior, bearing the retailer’s mark ‘Bright & Sons Ltd, Scarborough’.


The following presentation inscription is displayed on the exterior surface of the box:


'Presented to Mrs Davidson by Sir Charles Strickland, H.P. Marriott, Hon Tatton & Mrs Willoughby. In remembrance of many years faithful service. Christmas 1905'

Condition


This antique teapot is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The box is in excellent condition; in keeping with age.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface and part hallmarks to the cover of the teapot are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this set of Edwardian teaware.
