A fine set of twelve antique Victorian English sterling silver plates; part of our dining silverware collection

Description

These twelve matching Victorian sterling silver plates have a cinq-foil circular form.

Each antique plate is embellished with a fine and gadroon decorated border.

The circular sunken well of each plate is plain and unembellished.

Each of these fine Victorian plates is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest depicting a squirrel sejant cracking a nut under a fruit bearing branch placed below the family motto 'Tenebo' - I will hold to one side, and a bright cut engraved baron's coronet to the opposing side.

Condition

These antique silver plates are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and are in excellent condition.

The plates have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved crests and coronets are very crisp.

The gadroon decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each plate are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
