This fine antique
George IV sterling silver is truly magnificent* and impressive. ale jug
The jug has a baluster shaped form onto a circular, chased decorated spreading foot.
The body is embellished with profuse fine chased decoration depicting Bacchanalian scenes incorporating cherub-like figures, vines, goats, mystical fish, floral and foliate designs.
The decoration to the body incorporates a vacant shaped cartouche to one side, bordered by impressive shell and scrolling acanthus leaf chased decoration and a crowned Neptune-like mask to the top.
The underside of the spout is ornamented with a large and impressive chased mask .
The jug is fitted with a fine and noteworthy C scroll acanthus leaf decorated handle beautifully embellished with an acanthus leaf thumbpiece.
This impressive antique ale jug has a gilded interior.
