This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver christening mug has been realistically modelled in the form of a barrel.
The body of this impressive antique christening mug is embellished with two broad bands of tooled and wigglework decoration replicating the details of the bilge and quarter hoops, in addition to vertical markings reproducing the individual staves.
The decoration to the mug incorporates a vacant circular cartouche to the anterior surface.
The mug is fitted with a large plain faceted opposing scroll handle accented with an incurved thumbpiece.
This exceptional mug retains the original gilded interior.
The underside of the mug bears the retailer's mark 'Wordlet & Co, Liverpool'.
This exceptional example of christening silverware was crafted by the renowned London silversmith George William Adams of Chawner & Co.
