Description


This exceptional and large antique sterling silver biscuit box has a plain cylindrical form.


The surface of this Victorian biscuit barrel is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest displaying a coat of arms depicting a sinister hand couped with a motto below a griffin's head erased.


The box is fitted with a plain hallmarked hinged circular cover, surmounted with a central plain oval hallmarked ring loop handle.


The unusual hinge features a triangular socket in junction with the body, in addition to a rectangular socket to the posterior surface of the cover.


This antique sterling silver biscuit box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked catch secured with a push fit pin connected via a link safety chain.

This antique biscuit box/container is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the box, and part hallmarks, as expected struck to the catch, ring handle and interior of the cover are all clear.
