This antique Victorian sterling silver set consists of a
bowl and a sifter spoon.
The bowl has a circular rounded form onto three impressive chased lion mask and paw feet.
The body of the bowl is embossed with alternate bands of fluted and bead decoration.
This design emanates from the centre of the well of the bowl in a swirl design.
The shaped rim of the bowl is embellished with a band of embossed bead decoration.
The
spoon is ornamented with an embossed fluted pattern accented with circular pierced decoration which allows the spoon to be used as a sifter.
The scallop shaped rim of the spoon has a bead decorated border.
The stem of the spoon has a twisted spiral form terminating in a shaped, pierced decorated handle incorporating a vacant ellipctical cartouche.
This impressive Victorian bowl and spoon set is fitted to a hinged leatherette box with a satin and velvet lined interior.
The box secures with a push fit catch.
Condition
The pieces of this antique set are a very good gauge of silver , fine quality and in excellent condition.
The set has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
The box is in excellent condition in keeping with age.
The embossed decoration is very sharp.
Full
hallmarks struck to the surface of the bowl and to the reverse surface of the spoon are very clear, however the maker's mark to the spoon is slightly rubbed but legible.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware .
