Andrews Silverware Insights Join Andrew as he discusses a few fine silver items within the AC Silver inventory - including these magnificent candlesticks

These magnificent antique George IV cast silver candlesticks, in sterling standard, have a baluster shaped form with a waisted knopped stem onto a shaped base.

The bulbous capitals are embellished floral and foliate decoration accented with interlacing ivy vines, all on a matte background.

The capitals are fitted with the original hallmarked detachable sconces ornamented scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation to the shaped rim in addition to a matte texture and plain scalloped decorated border.

The upper portion of each column is encompassed with a magnificent eagle design peering around the side of a grotesque lion style mask.

The lower knops are encircled with further naturalistic ornamentation flanked with fluted decoration in a swirl design and tiered quilted motifs.

The bases of these antique silver candle holders are embellished with a continuation of interlacing scrolling leaf and foliate ornamentation; one half of each base incorporates a magnificent lion mask and mystical fish design accented with scale textures.

Each base is encompassed with a large opposing scroll decorated border with a paralleling collet style rim.

These candlesticks were crafted by the important and renowned London silversmith Robert Garrard II, subsequently R & S Garrard & Co.

These cast sterling silver candlesticks are the finest gauge and examples of their type you could hope to acquire; the most magnificent pair of this type Andrew Campbell has had the pleasure to include within his inventory.
