An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver card case; an addition to our range of collectable silverware

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver card case has a rectangular shaped form.


The surface of this antique card case is embellished with fine and impressive chased and embossed scrolling leaf and floral decoration on a matt background.


The anterior surface of the case incorporates the Scott Monument* depicted in relief.


The decoration to the reverse of the case incorporates a shaped, scroll bordered vacant cartouche.


The shaped sides of this piece are embellished with plain scrolling borders.


This antique silver card case is fitted with a hinged cover ornamented with further scrolling leaf and foliate designs on a matt background.


* The impressive and gothic monument was erected in honour of the Scottish author Sir Walter Scott in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. Crafted in Binny sandstone and with a towering height of 200ft 6", it is the largest monument dedicated to a writer in the world.

This Victorian castle top card case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The decoration to this antique card case is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the rim are all very clear.

The date letter surround, in conjunction with the registration date of the maker the date of this piece is between 1824-1847, and it has been determined as 1843 due to the letter shape.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
