This unusual Victorian sterling silver christening mug has a circular cylindrical form.

This mug may be considered to be larger than the average christening mug,

The body of the mug is embellished with subtle bands of embossed decoration and a vacant sheild shaped cartouche to the centre front.

The rim and spreading foot are plain.

The interior of the mug is gilt.

This antique christening mug is fitted with an unusual and impressive scrolling handle.

The handle is ornamented with ribbed decoration, incoporating a mask and leaf decorated thumbpiece.

Condition

This large and impressive christening mug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.
