A fine antique Victorian English sterling silver christening mug; part of our silverware collection

Description

This fine Victorian sterling silver christening mug has a subtly tapering, circular, cylindrical form.

The mug is embellished with fine bright cut floral decoration including a clover and fern bouquet to one side, and a more naturalistic fern and foxglove design bordering a vacant cartouche to the other.

Encircling the rim of the mug is a fine band of applied interlocking decoration.

The mug has applied bead decoration around the foot, and also to the opposing C scroll handle.

The mug has a gilt interior.

This fine Victorian christening mug is an exceptional example of its type.

Condition

This christening mug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The mug has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mug are all very clear.
