Description

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver coffee pot has a baluster, melon shaped form onto four bracket style feet.

The lower portion of the shaped, rounded body of the coffee pot is embellished with applied and chased scrolling lead and floral spray decoration, incorporating a large opposing scroll bordered cartouche to either side.

The flared upper rim is encircled with an impressive applied floral and scroll border.

This Victorian silver coffee pot is fitted with a hallmarked hinged domed panelled cover surmounted with the original, fine and impressive hallmarked sterling silver floral and foliate finial.

The impressive C scroll handle is ornamented with a large single leaf design which is incorporated into the shaped thumbpiece.

The upper and lower sockets are embellished with further impressive chased leaf ornamentation.

The impressive ribbed swan necked spout is ornamented with exceptional applied and chased foliate designs to the lower portion in addition to a tiered leaf design to the lip.

The coffee pot is supported by four fine and impressive chased scrolling leaf decorated bracket style feet accented with leaf texture.

This exceptional coffee pot bears the same hallmark credentials and is crafted in the same style as the teapot A3681; they would sit very well together.

Date: 1837

Condition

This Victorian silver coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The applied and chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover and surface of the finial are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian teaware.
