A fine antique English sterling silver composite four piece tea and coffee service / set; part of our silver teaware collection


Description


This antique sterling silver four piece tea and coffee service / set consists of a teapot, coffee jug, sugar bowl and cream jug.


All the pieces were made by the Sheffield silversmith Henry Atkin.


The coffee jug and the teapot were made in 1906 and the cream jug and sugar bowl in 1916.


The pieces of this fine composite antique tea and coffee service have an oval boat shaped form with protruding corners, onto an oval spreading foot.


The body of the teapot and coffee jug are embellished with bright cut engraved floral and leaf garland decoration.


The body of the sugar bowl and the cream jug are ornamented to a lesser degree with bright cut engraved floral garland decoration.


The shaped, flared rim to each piece is plain and unembellished.


The teapot and coffee jug are fitted with hallmarked hinged covers, surmounted by thread decorated urn shaped finials.


The covers are further embellished with bright cut engraved floral and leaf motifs.


The teapot is fitted with a swan necked spout ornamented with floral and scrolling leaf bright cut decoration to the underside.


The teapot and coffee jug are fitted with plain C scroll handles.


The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with thread decorated C scroll handles.


The antique cream jug and sugar bowl retain their original gilt interiors.


This composite tea set is a very good example of its type and has been priced accordingly.


This fine sterling silver teaware is displayed on a tray for illustrative purposes only - the tray, or similar, may be purchased separately from the AC Silver inventory.


Condition


The pieces of this antique sterling silver four piece composite set is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece, and part hallmarks struck to the cover of the teapot and the coffee jug, and to the handles of each piece are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these items of antique silverware.
