A fine antique Edwardian English sterling silver cup and cover; an addition to our silver presentation collection Description
This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver cup and cover has a circular bell shaped form onto a circular spreading foot.
The lower portion of the body is embellished with applied cut card stylised leaf decoration.
The upper portion is ornamented with an applied band incorporating two chased scroll and acanthus leaf bordered oval vacant cartouches, one to each side of the body.
This cup retains the original domed push fit fully hallmarked cover, surmounted by an impressive compressed urn style fluted finial.
The cover is further embellished with fine cut card applied stylised leaf decoration, and a gadroon decorated border to the rim.
This fine cup is fitted with two impressive C scroll handles ornamented with a band of husk decoration.
The foot of this Edwardian cup is embellished with embossed fluted decoration.
Both the cup and cover retain the original gilt interior.
Condition
This antique cup and cover is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.
The decoration to this piece is very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the cup and to the cover are very clear; maker’s mark struck to the body of the cup is slightly rubbed.
Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of Edwardian silverware .
