This fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver dessert service for twelve persons consists of twelve dessert knives and twelve dessert forks.
The blades of the knives have a plain rectangular rounded form and are embellished to both surfaces with bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration.
The forks have four tines and are ornamented to the anterior and reverse surface with bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration.
Each piece of this fine dessert service is fitted with a shaped scroll embossed filled handle, further ornamented with bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration incorporating a vacant oval cartouche.
The dessert service is fitted to the original hinged veneered walnut box with a blue velvet lined lift out tray.
The box is ornamented with impressive mother of pearl fittings, including a shaped escutcheon and vacant cartouche.
Condition
This antique dessert service is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in presentation condition.
This service is in exceptional condition in considering the set type and age.
The bright cut engraved decoration to each piece is very crisp.
The box is in excellent condition in keeping with age.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the blade, tines and handles of each piece, as expected, are very clear.
