Description

This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver suite consists of six dish covers graduating in size, four have a plain oval domed form and two have a plain circular domed form.

The surface of each fully hallmarked cover is plain and unembellished.

Each cover retains the original hallmarked detachable shaped scroll and stylised palmette decorated handle.

The hallmarked handles of the oval covers include a lion passant to the upper surface with the maker’s mark, lion passant and date letter to the underside; the handles of the rounded covers are struck with full hallmarks to the upper surface.

The rim to both the covers and the handles are ornamented with a simplified egg and tongue decorated border.

This style of cover was originally used to cover food being presented on large plates and/or platters made of either silver or china.

Date: 1908

These antique dish covers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition.

Each cover has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The decoration to each piece is very sharp.
