Description

This fine antique George II sterling silver dish has a plain circular form.

The rim of this sterling silver dish is embellished with a plain applied border.

The sunken oval well of this fine example of antique silverware retains the silversmith’s centre punch mark.

This exceptional early Georgian dish crafted by one of the most famous and revered English silversmiths, Paul de Lamerie, has a very good patination*.

*Patination or Patina is a subtle colouration or tarnish which forms on the surface of some metals, produced by oxidation or other chemical processes. A good patina proffers an aesthetically pleasing look.

Condition

This antique dish is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

There are surface scratches to the dish in keeping with age and purpose.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the dish are very clear, showing slight wear in keeping with age.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of Georgian silverware.
