This antique five piece tea and coffee service consists of a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug, sugar bowl and water jug.
The pieces of this Victorian tea set have an unususal yet desirable octagonal tapering form onto applied thread decorated octagonal shaped bases.
Each antique piece is embellished bright cut engraved scroll and star decorated upper and lower borders, with a planished background to each band.
Bright cut engraved husk style festoon decoration, accented with dropped wheat sheaf motifs encircles each piece.
The rim of the teapot, coffee jug, cream jug, sugar bowl and water jug is ornamented with an applied thread decorated border, accented with an applied stylized leaf motif at each of the eight corners.
The teapot , coffee jug and water jug are fitted with flush hinged hallmarked covers, indicating the fine quality of this service.
The covers are retain the original hallmarked urn style finials.
These pieces are fitted with angular bright cut decorated C scroll handles.
Both the antique coffee jug and teapot are fitted with plain tapering cylindrical spouts.
The sugar bowl and cream jug retain their original gilt interiors.
The water jug was crafted in 1898 by George Howson.
The teapot, coffee jug, sugar bowl and cream jug were crafted in 1893 by the Harrison Brothers & Howson (Henry Harrison).

This Victorian set is a very fine example of an unusual and desirable octagonal shaped tea and coffee service.
Condition
The pieces of this antique sterling silver tea and coffee service / set are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.
The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece, and part hallmarks struck to each cover, handle and finial are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
