A fine and impressive antique George VI English sterling silver five piece tea and coffee service in the Art Deco style; an addition to our teaware collection at AC Silver

Description

This fine antique George VI sterling silver five piece tea and coffee service / set consists of a coffee jug, teapot, cream jug, sugar bowl, and tray.

The pieces of this tea and coffee service have a plain octagonal panelled form onto a swept panelled foot; the coffee jug, cream jug and sugar bowl all have a tapering form.

The body of each piece is plain and unembellished.

The coffee jug and teapot are fitted with hallmarked hinged covers, surmounted with the original Art Deco style black fibre finials.

The teapot and coffee jug are fitted with Art Deco style shaped black fibre handles.

The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with Art Deco style shaped sterling silver handles.

The pieces of this fine tea and coffee service are presented on a fine matching tray.

The tray has a plain oval cut cornered shaped form ad is fitted with impressive oblong shaped Art Deco style handles.

The pieces of this impressive antique tea and coffee service were all made in Sheffield in1937 by two silversmiths, Z Barraclough & Sons Ltd and Cooper Bros Ltd; a common practice for the period.

Condition

All the pieces of this antique tea set are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the set and the underside of the trayand part hallmarks to the underside of the covers of the teapot and coffeepot are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these impressive examples of antique teaware.
