Description

This fine antique Regency style sterling silver tea and coffee set consists of a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl.

All the pieces apart from the coffee pot have a compressed circular form onto four bracket style feet.

The coffee pot has a baluster shaped form onto a circular pedestal foot supported by four bracket style feet.

Each piece is embellished with a broad band of chased scrolling leaf and flower decoration encircling the body.

This decoration incorporates a scroll decorated cartouche to either side of the item - one cartouche vacant, the other displaying the engraved initials 'JEH'.

The shoulders of the teapot and coffee pot, and the rim of the cream jug and sugar bowl are ornamented with an applied and chased decorated floral and berry decorated border.

The teapot and coffee pot are both fitted with flush hinged, hallmarked, chased flower decorated domed covers which retain the original shaped floral finials; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of this service.

The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with C scroll handles embellished with similar designs to that of the rim, emanating from a cornucopia.

The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with impressive hallmarked, C scroll handles ornamented with applied acanthus leaf decorated thumbpieces.

The teapot and coffee pot spouts are ornamented with an impressive applied floral motif to the lip.

The teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl are all supported by four impressive Regency style bracket feet, each embellished with scrolling leaf decoration to a paw foot.
