A fine antique Edwardian English sterling silver pepper pot modelled in the form of a golden pheasant; an addition to our silverware collection

Description

This fine antique sterling silver pepper pot has been realistically modelled in the form of a Golden Pheasant or 'Chinese Pheasant', a gamebird native to western China.

This pheasant displays a distinctive (golden) crest and 'cape' around its head and shoulders, differentiating it from the more ubiquitous 'common' pheasant table ornament.

The pepper pot is embellished with realistic embossed and chased feather-like decoration.

The hallmarked push fit cover/head has pierced decoration.

The pheasant stands on a base realistically modelled in the form of rough grass.

Condition

This antique Edwardian pepper pot is a very fine gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The decoration is crisp and sharp.

Full hallmarks stuck to the tail and part hallmarks, as expected, struck to the sleeve of the cover are all clear.
