A fine and impressive antique early Victorian English sterling silver locking tea caddy; part of our silverware collection


Description


This fine and impressive antique early Victorian sterling silver tea caddy has an octagonal panelled baluster shaped form onto a colet foot.


Each panel of this fine tea caddy is embellished with angular ribbon bright cut engraved decoration incorporating a vacant rectangular cartouche to the anterior panel.


This early Victorian tea caddy is fitted with a lock ornamented with decorative rose head fitments.


This impressive tea caddy is fitted with a hallmarked domed and panelled cushion style hinged cover.


The cover retains the original cushion shaped silver finial.


Condition


This antique tea caddy is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover are very clear.
