Description


This fine antique early Victorian sterling silver tea caddy has an octagonal panelled baluster shaped form onto a spreading collet foot.


Each panel of this fine tea caddy is embellished with bright cut engraved angular interlacing ribbon designs, incorporating four vacant shaped cartouches.


This early Victorian tea caddy is fitted with a lock ornamented with decorative rose head fitments.


This impressive caddy has a hallmarked domed panelled cushion style hinged cover embellished with further bright cut engraved interlacing designs accented with floral motifs.


The cover is surmounted by the original cushion shaped silver finial ornamented with scaled bright cut engraved decoration reflecting that of the cover.


Date: 1840

Condition


This antique Victorian tea caddy is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover are very clear.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this item of Victorian silverware.
