Description

The pieces of this fine antique sterling silver four piece tea and coffee service have a melon shaped form onto four impressive bracket feet.

The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with hinged hallmarked covers.

The covers retain the original hallmarked sterling silver floral finials which are ornamented with fine chased decoration.

The teapot and coffee pot have swan necked spouts embellished with floral and leaf chased decoration.

The teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl are all fitted with shaped sterling silver handlse with acanthus leaf decoration.

This fine teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl were made by William Theobalds and Lockington Bunn.

The coffee pot was made by Richard William Aitkens and William Nathan Somersall.

Despite the fact that the coffee pot is made by an alternative maker and bears the date letter for 1837, the retailer would have originally sold this impressive service together.

Condition

This antique tea and coffee service is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece and part hallmarks struck to the cover, handle and finial of the teapot and coffee pot are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these items.
