A fine and impressive antique Victorian blown and cut glass and English sterling silver mounted claret jug; an addition to our silver mounted glass collection

Description

This fine antique Victorian glass and sterling silver mounted claret jug has a plain panelled ovoid form onto a circular base.

The cylindrical neck is fitted with a plain fine and impressive angular sterling silver mount, surmounted by a hallmarked hinged cover.

The lower rim of the sterling silver mount is embellished with the engraving ‘Millar Wilkinson. 3 St Michaels Alley Cornhill’.

This Victorian claret jug is fitted with a plain sterling silver C scroll handle to a circular hallmarked support band to the foot.

This impressive jug is embellished with a star cut base.

Condition

The mount of this antique claret jug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount and part hallmarks struck to the cover and support band are very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian glassware.
