A very fine, impressive, and unusual, large antique Edwardian English cut glass, silver mounted 'watch' inkwell

Description

This very fine, large antique cut glass inkwell has a circular domed form in a fluted design.

The inkwell has a star cut glass base.

This impressive piece has a plain hinged sterling silver mount which incorporates a hallmarked gimbal mounted cover which features a gent's pocket / fob watch.

The hallmarked upper rim of the cover is completely detachable, and when removed releases the nickel plated watch held within.

In addition to the normal silver hallmarks, the mount displays the retailer's mark and the unique registration number 4176.

Condition

This unusual and impressive antique inkwell is fine quality and in excellent condition.

The glass is in perfect condition and the watch in full working order.

The silver mount is a very good gauge of silver.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the lower mount, and part hallmarks struck to the rim and gimbal are very clear.

Full hallmarks struck to the upper mount are partially rubbed.
