Description

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver pepperette has been realistically modelled in the form of an owl/owlet.

This impressive silver owl pepperette is embellished with embossed and chased decoration reproducing the details of the bird's plumage and anatomical features.

This sterling silver piece retains the original push fit cover/head which features pierced 'pepper' holes.

The cover of this antique owl shaped pepper is further ornamented with bead eyes.

The rim and interior of the cover retains the original gilding.

The underside of the tail is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest* depicting out of a crescent a demi eagle displayed.

This exceptional owl pepperette, crafted by the renowned London silversmiths George John Richards & Edward Charles Brown, is a large example of its type; the piece could be used as a standalone table ornament.

* This heraldic crest pertains to the family Bristow/Bristowe.
