A very good antique Victorian English sterling silver posy holder; part of our silverware collection

Description

This antique Victorian sterling silver posy holder has a cone shaped form with a castellated rim.

There is a band of bright cut engraved decoration around the body incorporating an oval vacant cartouche to one side.

A shaped 'ball drop' trim with an integrated link chain swag decoration embellishes the lower border of the rim.

The posy holder is fitted with a push fit clip with link chain attachment.

The lower tapering portion of the holder also has bright cut engraved decoration.

The holder is supported by three spring loaded legs with cupped feet.

The legs are restrained by link chains.

Once closed, the legs fit neatly and securely into the sliding terminal.

Condition

This posy holder is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition in keeping with its age.

Full hallmarks struck to the body, and part hallmarks, as expected, struck to the interior of the cupped feet are clear.

There are minor dings to the ball finial of the locking pin.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of example of Victorian silverware.
