Description

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver presentation trophy has a plain circular waisted form, realistically modelled in the form of a king chess piece.

The plain bevelled body of this impressive piece encompassed with eight applied vacant shield shaped cartouches to the lower portion.

The upper portion of this large chess piece is surmounted with the traditional cross motif finial*.

The underside of this impressive model bears the retailer’s mark ‘Fattorini & Sons Ltd, Bradford’.

By virtue of its size and weight, this versatile trophy could be used as a presentation piece or a gentleman’s desk paperweight.

If required, this antique presentation piece could be supplied with a bespoke ebonised black plinth with sterling silver plaque or band, suitable for a personal engraved inscription. This service would take approximately 6 weeks; the trophy can be dispatched separately prior to completion.

* Within a set of chess pieces the cross finial is a notable feature to make the king instantly recognisable from the queen.

Date: 1920

Condition

This antique presentation piece is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the trophy are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique silverware.
