This fine and impressive, large antique sterling silver tea kettle has a circular tapering compressed form onto a colet foot.
The kettle is supported on the original impressive hallmarked stand with integrated removable spirit burner.
This George V kettle has been crafted in the William IV Regency style and is embellished with magnificent chased flower and leaf decoration, incorporating a scrolling leaf decorated cartouche to either side.
One cartouche displays an engraved crest depicting a gryphon segreant above the motto 'Virtus Nobilitat Omnia' , the other cartouche displays a demi lion grasping a twig above the motto 'Vincit Qui Petiteur'.
Both the shoulders of the kettle and shoulders of the stand are ornamented with scrolling leaf decoration.
The substantial spout is embellished with chased flower and leaf decoration to the upper and lower faces.
The hallmarked cast swing handle is ornamented with scrolling leaf decoration, with the central shaped portion overlaid with impressive woven two-tone bamboo.
This fine kettle retains the original flush hinged domed cover, surmounted with an impressive hallmarked rose finial.
The kettle hinges forwards to pour.
The fully hallmarked cast stand is ornamented with scrolling leaf and flower designs, encircled by a leaf decorated border accented with foxhead motifs.
The three shaped bifircating legs which support the stand are ornamented with leaf decorated shoulders and impressive fluted, scroll decorated feet.
The stand retains the original, hallmarked push fit spirit burner and the two hallmarked locking pegs.
Condition
The components of this magnificent spirit kettle are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent, presentation condition.
The chased decoration is very sharp, and the bright cut engraved decoration very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the kettle and stand, and to the underside of the burner, are all very clear.
Part hallmarks struck as expected to the finial and interior of the cover are also very clear.
Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these items.
