Description

This exceptional antique early George I sterling silver teapothas a circular plain bullet shaped form onto a circular spreading collet foot.

The surface of this impressive Georgian teapot is plain and unembellished.

The silver teapot retains the original hallmarked hinged domed cover surmounted by the original sterling silver spool shaped finial.

This fine silver teapot is fitted with a carved ivory C scroll handle featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece.

The teapot has a tapering cylindrical spout ornamented with moulded decoration to the rim.

The underside of the base is embellished with the original and contemporary engraved initials 'TIE', in addition to the full hallmarks.

Condition

This antique Georgian teapot is a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition.

The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

There is some crazing to the ivory handle as to be expected, in keeping with age; this does not affect the integrity of the piece.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside and lion passant mark to the cover, as to be expected, are all very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this example of Georgian silverware.
