A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver teapot; an addition to our teaware collection Description
This fine Victorian sterling silver teapot has a round bulbous form onto a circular spreading foot.
The body of the teapot is embellished with floral, leaf and scroll bright cut engraved decoration incorporating six oval cartouches with bead decorated borders.
Four of the cartouches are ornamented with impressive chased wild rose and lily of the valley floral designs, the remaining two are vacant.
The rim and foot of the teapot have bead decorated borders.
The teapot retains the original hallmarked hinged domed cover surmounted with an impressive hallmarked sterling silver urn style finial, ornamented with pendant drop decoration.
The cover is also embellished with floral, leaf and scroll bright cut engraved decoration which incorporates a further six bead bordered vacant oval cartouches.
The faceted swan necked spout is ornamented with bright cut engraved scrolling decoration and a moulded, leaf decorated lip.
This antique teapot is fitted with a hallmarked C scroll handle, embellished with a bright cut engraved floral and scrolling leaf design and shaped sockets.
This impressive teapot was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Edward & John Barnard.
Condition
This antique Victorian teapot is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.
The teapot has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
The chased and bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and part hallmarks struck to the cover, handle and finial are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Victorian silverware .
