Description
This fine and collectable antique Victorian sterling silver teapot has a compressed melon style form onto four impressive acanthus leaf and volute scroll decorated bracket style feet.
This impressive teapot is plain and unembellished with the exception of a bright cut engraved coat of arms to one side.
The coat of arms features four segments with two depicting griffins segreant and two featuring four lions rampant separated by a cross. Each griffin is surrounded by three crescent moons*.
The coat of arms is surmounted by a crest of a greyhound courant*.
The teapot is fitted with a flush hinged subtly domed cover surmounted by a very impressive hallmarked sterling silver acorn style finial, which is also struck with Paul Storr makers mark.
This Victorian teapot has a swan necked spout ornamented with a shaped socket and a leaf decorated terminal.
The C scroll handle features an impressive acanthus leaf thumbpiece and acanthus decorated terminals.
The teapot has been crafted by the renowned and highly collectable maker Paul Storr.
Condition
This antique teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.
The bright cut engraved coat of arms is very crisp.
Full hallmarks are struck to the underside of the base and part hallmarks are struck to the cover, handle and finial.
The hallmarks are clear however, the date letter to the underside is slightly rubbed in keeping with age.
