Sterling Silver Three Piece Tea Service by Solomon Royes - Regency Style - Antique George IV

£2,995.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George IV English sterling silver Regency style three piece tea service/set; an addition to our silver teaware collection

SKU A1913

This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver tea service consists of a teapot, cream jug, and sugar bowl.

Each piece of this impressive silver tea service has a rectangular rounded form onto four Regency style feet.

The plain body of each piece is encircled with a band of embossed and chased decorated stylised floral motifs on a matte background.

The teapot is fitted with a flush hinged, domed hallmarked cover; the flush hinge indicates the fine quality of this service.

The cover retains the original sterling silver rounded rectangular finial embellished with chased stylised rose and leaf decoration, encompassed with a bud border.

The Regency style teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with C scroll handles, ornamented with applied chased scrolling acanthus leaf decorated thumbpieces.

Each component of this service is supported by four Regency style bracket style feet ornamented with a shaped claw foot, accented with scrolling leaf decoration and stylised floral motifs.

The cream jug and sugar bowl retain the original gilded interiors.

Maker: Solomon Royes

Date: 1821

This antique Regency tea service is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The embossed and chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and part hallmarks struck to the cover and handle of the teapot are all very clear; the hallmarks to these pieces show wear in keeping with age but can be considered very clear due to their location.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
