£2,850.00

A fine and impressive antique George IV English sterling silver three piece tea service / set with matching teapot stand; part of our silver teaware collection

SKU A3387

This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver three piece tea set consists of a teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug, in addition to a matching teapot stand.

Each piece antique English silver tea set has a compressed circular melon shaped form.

The pieces of this impressive service are encircled with chased wild rose, flower and leaf decoration, incorporating a scroll decorated vacant shaped cartouche to one side of each piece.

The teapot is fitted with the original hallmarked subtly domed cover ornamented with further chased decoration and surmounted with the original fluted finial.

The teapot is fitted with the original carved handpiece with plain, elongated sterling silver sockets.

The sugar bowl is fitted with two shaped, rounded handles and the cream jug features a ribbed, C shaped handle with plain scrolling thumbpiece.

The cream jug and the sugar bowl retain the original gilded interior.

This fine tea service has the benefit of being accompanied by the original hallmarked teapot stand.

The teapot stand is fitted with a wooden base and green baize to the underside.

Maker: John Bridge

Date: 1823

This antique tea service and stand are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover have wear but remain legible; the hallmarks struck to the surface of the teapot are illegible and the service has been priced accordingly.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this sterling silver tea set.
