A fine and unusual antique Edwardian English sterling silver tobacco box; part of our silverware collection

Description

This unusual antique Edwardian sterling silver tobacco box has a plain barrel form onto three bun feet.

The body of the jar is embellished with applied strapwork decoration accented with central opposing scroll heart shaped applied motifs.

The original hallmarked push fit cover is surmounted by an impressive cornucopia style finial.

There is a bright cut engraved crest to the body and to the cover depicting a lion's head couped.

Condition

This antique jar is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The applied decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the jar and to the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Edwardian silverware.
