A fine and unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver and stained ivory handled fish service for twelve persons; an addition to our silverware collection

Description

The pieces of this fine antique Victorian fish service have broad incurved shaped form.

The hallmarked blades of each piece are embellished to the anterior face with scrolling acanthus leaf bright cut engraved decoration.

The reverse of each piece is plain apart from a fine line engraved border.

The knives and forks of this twelve-persons fish service are fitted with bead decorated hallmarked silver ferules.

Each piece of this Victorian service is fitted with an uncommon stained ivory handle which has a plain rounded form.

The knives and forks are fitted to a hinged mahogany box which is embellished with an inlaid border and a vacant shield shaped cartouche to the cover.

The box has a satin lined interior.

Condition

The pieces of this fine antique fish service for twelve persons are a very good gauge of silver, fine and impressive quality and in excellent condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration to the blades is crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to each piece are all very clear.
