Description

This impressive antique Edwardian sterling silver jug has a circular plain waisted form with a plain lip.

The surface of the jug is plain and unembellished.

The lower portion of the jug is simply ornamented with a convex domed band around the rim of the base.

This jug retains the original very impressive narwhal tusk* handle with plain impressive shaped sterling silver sockets.

* A narwhal is a medium sized toothed Arctic whale, the male of the species being characterised by its single 2-3 metre long tusk. The tusk is actually an incisor tooth which projects in a left-handed helix from the narwhal's upper jaw.

Date: 1901

Condition

This antique jug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the jug are very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Edwardian silverware.
