0.23ct Diamond and Sapphire, 9ct White Gold Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Brooch - Vintage 1971

Description

This fine and impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 9ct white gold.

The brooch has been modelled in the form of the crest of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's).

This impressive sweetheart brooch incorporates a central initial 'L', interlaced and reversed; this represents the late Princess Louise.

The piece is further ornamented with the Argyll's crest of a boar's head to one side and the Sutherland's crest of a cat-a-mountain to the other.

These two animal crests are embellished with a total of twenty-eight pavé set eight cut diamonds.

The boar's and wild-cat's eyes are represented with impressive round faceted cut sapphires, totalling 0.01ct.

This central arrangement is surmounted with a Princess's coronet, ornamented with a further seven eight-cut diamonds and completing the design.

The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp fastening.

The impressive military brooch has been hallmarked with the maker's mark (JWB), the fineness mark for 9ct white gold (9ct, 375), the Birmingham Assay Office hallmark (anchor) and the date letter for 1971 (W).

This antique diamond regimental brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

NOTE: * The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's) was formed in 1881 and joined the Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2006. This was a line infantry regiment of the British Army and their motto was 'Ne Obliviscaris, Sans Peur' - Without fear, do not forget.
