Description


This exceptional antique Russian 14 ct yellow gold cigarette case has a rectangular rounded form.


The surface of this Faberge case is embellished with inlaid tooled bands of rose gold which continues across the rounded sides.


The case is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover incorporating an impressive collet set cabouchon sapphire push fit catch, which when released reveals two hinged compartments.

This impressive case retains the two original retaining straps.


The hallmarks to the interior of this Russian piece include:

Maker's mark: ФАБЕРЖЕ (Faberge)

Workmaster's mark: AH (Albert Holmström or August Wilhelm Holmström)

Gold quality/purity mark: 56 (56 zolotniks*)

Kokoshnik Mark: α (St Petersburg, Russia)


* 56 zolotniki is equivalent to 585/1000 or 14 carat gold

Condition


This antique Faberge case is an exceptional gauge of gold, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

There are some minor marks to the interior of the case, in keeping with age and use.

The Russian hallmarks to the interior of each cover are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Fabergé box.
