Description

This exceptional antique Victorian 18 carat gold pencil has a cylindrical shaped form realistically modelled in the form of a champagne bottle.

The lower cylindrical portion of the body is embellished with the exceptional and original enamel panel replicating the details of a champagne label, including the script 'Louis Roederer, Reims'*.

The posterior side of the body features a gold ring loop attachment.

The 18ct white gold upper fingerpiece of the pencil is modelled in the form of a foil capped champagne cork subdivided by an integrated wire muselet/wirehood design; this section conceals the pull out mechanism for the pencil shaft.

The gold extended pencil shaft bears the maker's mark 'J&G Beasley, 35st James St, 18ct'

Such examples are normally found in 9 carat gold, it is a sign of exceptional quality to locate a piece crafted in 18 carat gold.

* Louis Roederer is a Champagne house located in Reims, France. This brand of champagne was founded as Dubois Père & Fils in 1776 and was renamed by Louis Roederer in 1833.
