20.34ct Opal and 4.63ct Diamond, Silver Gilt Cross Pendant / Brooch - Antique Circa 1860

Description

This stunning, large and magnificent antique pendant has been crafted in silver.

The pierced decorated, ornate cross design is hollow in nature, embellished with a scrolling decoration to the crossbar terminals.

The silver gilt, trellis style crossbars of the pendant are embellished with six, exceptional and stunning collet set cabochon cut opals in a linear arrangement, with a seventh cabochon opal embellishing the integrated ring loop to the upper border of the design.

The magnificent antique opal cross pendant is ornamented with a further three-hundred-and-two old Dutch cut diamonds, weighing a total of 4.63ct, pavé set with millegrain decoration around the border of the design.

This versatile opal pendant suspends from an 18" contemporary 18 ct gold trace chain via a detachable intricate ring loop, accented with scrolling decoration, a magnificent cabochon opal and impressive old Dutch cut diamonds.

This stunning antique pendant can also be worn as a brooch via a hinged pin and clasp fastening to the reverse.

This antique opal cross pendant has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as silver.
