This stunning Russian antique pendant has been crafted in 14 ct yellow gold.

The wirework style frame has a scrolling design ornamented with a feature cushion cut amethyst, claw set to the upper portion.

The interlacing arrangement is ornamented with four paired leaf designs, accented with eight pavé set demantoid garnets*.

The framework is further ornamented with four individually set demantoid garnets, emanating from a horizontal arrangement of three further gemstones.

The nadir of the pendant features a 14ct yellow gold linear drop terminating with a claw set cushion cut amethyst.

This amethyst pendant suspends from two ring loop attachments to the upper border of the design and is attached to a 9 ct yellow gold trace chain, securing with a conventional spring-loaded bolt ring fastening to the reverse.

The upper portion of the setting is hallmarked with the shovel frame-shape, with the Regional Assay Office mark for Kazan /Казань, National Core image (woman's head facing right) and the mark for 14ct gold (56 zolotniks)**.

This impressive antique pendant is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

NOTES:

* Demantoid is the green variety of andradite garnet and is the most valuable and rare of the garnet family. Some gemstones are more valuable for their inclusions, and horsetail inclusions can be regarded as preferable features in demantoid due to their indication of distinguished Russian origin; these inclusions are feathery golden curving threads that simulate the tail of a horse - in this instance they may only be observed under magnification.

** This variation of the Kokoshnik mark was used for Russian items between 1908 - 1927, determining the date of this piece as circa 1915. The shovel frame-shape was struck to pieces which weight was recognised as greater than 2 zolotniks (8.53 grams).
