Description

This impressive vintage Scots Guards regimental brooch has been crafted in 9 ct yellow gold.

The bar brooch is ornamented with the insignia/cap badge of the Scots Guards*, incorporating the thistle emblem encircled by the regimental motto: 'Nemo Me Impune Lacessit' - (No one can harm me unpunished), displayed within a green enamelled border.

This fine Scots Guards regimental sweetheart brooch reflects the textured St Andrew's saltire, with clusters of rays between the arms thereof.

This fine example of vintage jewellery is fully hallmarked to the side and secures to the reverse with an 9 ct yellow gold hinged pin.

The hallmarks include the 9ct gold fineness guarantee marks (9.375), the Birmingham Assay Office mark (anchor), the date letter for 1969 (U), and the maker's mark for Cropp & Farr (C&F).

NOTES

*The Scots Guards can trace their origins back to 1642 when the regiment was originally known as The Marquis of Argyll's Royal Regiment.

Nemo me impune lacessit is the Latin motto of the Order of the Thistle and of three Scottish regiments of the British Army.

Date: 1969
