This exceptional George V antique glass and silver hip flask has a rectangular form with rounded corners.
The glass body of this antique glass flask is embellished with impressive acid etched ribbon bow designs connected with suspended floral swags and medallions.
The lower portion of the body is fitted with a fine and impressive push fit hallmarked drinking cup embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'K.D.B'.
The upper portion of the drinking cup is encompassed with a plain moulded border to the rim.
This impressive flask is fitted with a full hallmarked mount and retains the original domed hinged tortoiseshell cover with a hallmarked bayonet fitting.
Gold examples such as this are becoming increasingly difficult to locate and are highly desirable.
This flask has been tested for watertightness and is ready for use.
To ensure the flask remains water tight, the cork should be moist and therefore fully expanded to provide an effective seal.
There are two recommended methods to ensure that the cork does not dry out and shrink:
Method One: Keep fluid in the flask at all times, and keep the flask on its side to ensure the cork remains wet.
Method Two: Fill the flask to the brim with fluid and close. Leave it like this overnight, or for 24 hours if possible, before use.
