A fine and interesting antique American sterling silver christening mug; an addition to our christening silverware collection

This fine antique American silver christening mug, in sterling standard, has a plain circular rounded form to a collet style foot.


The surface of this fine example of antique silverware is embellished with the contemporary engraved initials 'R.S. to M.W'.


The collet foot and subtly flared rim of the mug are encircled with an applied gadroon style border.


The American silver mug is fitted with an S scroll handle with a plain thumbpiece.


The hallmarks to the underside of this impressive mug include:

Maker's mark: J.Curry (John Curry, active between c1825-1850)

City mark: Phila. (Philadelphia, PA)


This antique mug is an uncommon piece of silver due to the rarity of production.

This antique American silver christening mug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mug are all very clear.
