Description


This exceptional antique American sterling silver water jug has a circular bulbous form onto a circular collet style foot.


The body of this impressive Tiffany water pitcher is embellished with finely chased rose, floral and foliate decoration on a matte background, incorporating mirrored scallop shaped borders at the junction between the cylindrical neck and bulbous body.


The lower portion of the body is encompassed with inverted scalloped decoration accented with leaf textures.


The upper portion of the neck is encircled with a leaf decorated border in a swirl design, beneath an applied moulded border to the rim.


This impressive example of vintage silverware is fitted with an exceptional C shaped handle ornamented with further chased floral and foliate ornamentation, in addition to further leaf decoration to the circular, domed lower socket.


The underside of this impressive Tiffany pitcher bears the volume marker '5 1/4 PT' in addition to the hallmarks:

Maker's mark: Tiffany & Co. (directorship of Edward Moore)

Silver quality/purity mark: sterling silver (.925, 925/1000)

The sterling silver jug has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The American and full import hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are all very clear.
